What We Collect

• Account details, such as your Sorta Mail account email address and login/session information.
• Connected email account details, such as the email address, provider, verification status, and encrypted provider credentials.
• Email data needed to operate Sorta Mail, including message summaries, sender details, subject lines, snippets, timestamps, read/starred state, unsubscribe metadata, and selected full message content when needed for reading, replying, AI drafts, unsubscribe detection, or provider actions.
• Usage and subscription data, including swipe actions, sender cleanups, AI draft usage, plan status, trial status, and purchase validation data from Apple.
• Diagnostics, logs, and error information needed to keep the service reliable and secure.

How We Use Gmail Data

When you connect Gmail, Sorta Mail uses Google user data only to provide user-facing email features in the app. This includes showing inbox cards, reading selected messages, archiving, starring, moving messages to Trash, searching sender history for cleanup, detecting unsubscribe options, sending replies you approve, disconnecting Gmail, and deleting your Sorta Mail account when requested.

Sorta Mail requests Gmail access so the app can perform the mailbox actions you choose. Delete actions move messages to Gmail Trash rather than permanently deleting them where the provider supports Trash.

Google Limited Use

Sorta Mail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• We do not sell Google user data.
• We do not use Google user data for advertising.
• We do not use Google user data to train general AI or machine learning models.
• We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless you ask us for support, it is necessary for security, abuse, or legal reasons, or you give explicit permission.
• We transfer Google user data only as needed to provide or improve user-facing Sorta Mail features, comply with law, protect security, or with your consent.

AI Features

If you use AI draft features, Sorta Mail may send the relevant email context and your configured writing preferences to the configured AI provider to generate the requested draft or quick replies. AI features are optional, usage-limited, and used only when you request them.

Security And Storage

Provider credentials, including Gmail OAuth refresh tokens, Gmail app passwords, and Microsoft OAuth refresh tokens, are encrypted before storage. The mobile app stores only your Sorta Mail session token in Keychain. We use HTTPS for network traffic and minimize stored email content where possible.

Account Deletion And Disconnect

You can disconnect an email account from the app. Disconnecting removes stored provider credentials and clears account-specific cached email data from Sorta Mail. You can delete your Sorta Mail account from the app. Deletion removes your Sorta Mail account, sessions, connected-account credentials, cached email data, usage history, and settings from our systems, subject to limited retention required for security, legal, tax, billing, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Children

Sorta Mail is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as Sorta Mail changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, in the app.
